Studying, firstly, at Winchester School of Art for her BA, Jo then went on to Kingston University where she obtained an MA in Applied Fine Art.
She has a fascination for the subjects of wildlife, people, and the urban environment, and takes her inspiration from life itself. In particular, Jo likes places which are busy and where people congregate – resulting in her paintings becoming increasingly busy, and encourages the viewer to take a closer look and get involved in the many characters.
Living and working in Woking, Surrey, she counts herself as fortunate to live so close to a big city “where it is easy to observe and photograph people going about their daily lives”.
Jo regularly exhibits her paintings, has won several prizes over recent years, and been shortlisted for several other major prizes including BBC Wildlife Artist of the Year 2011, Surrey Artist of the Year 2011, and Artist and Illustrators Artist of the Year 2013 and 2014.
